Migoto Matsuri - Beautiful Festival
So that everyone has the opportunity to find out about the costumes that Mas Fusion are presenting this year. Here is the press release that Jill wrote up about the costumes.
MAS FUSION presents Migoto Matsuri – A beautiful festival.
The costumes this year reflect the culture and religious festivals of Japan and the designs feature some of the most beautiful and elegant symbols and traditions from this amazing country.
The fusion of colours have been chosen to depict beauty and richness and the gold signifies wealth and strength. The energy of the dance reflects the happiness and joy found within the journey through life’s garden.
On the road the veiled travelers will guide the flower girls through the garden of splendor where they will discover the beauty and regalness of the Peacocks and Majestic heron.
The dragon warrior brings forth the travelers and birds to the garden offering protection on their journey.
The graceful veiled travelers depict ancient 18th century attire worn by Japanese women as they travelled. The flower and fans represent the culture, elegance and beauty of the country, the heron, majestic and ceremonial in their stance bring forth happiness and joy and the flamboyant peacocks protect and guard and bring grace, richness, and strength.
MAS FUSION will bring a spectacular performance to the carnival. With more than 60 people wearing costume and dancing their way around the streets they are sure to wow the crowd once again.
When all the different costume groups are together, and we haven’t seen them all yet this spectacular display will no doubt prove that the Island has some of the best carnival artists in the south of England and Mas Fusion should be counted as being on a par with the groups from Notting Hill!
