For the last couple of Mondays between 2 pm and 4 pm Sandown Carnival Association have been running some carnival workshops near the trampolines on Sandown beach. Last Monday I took some photographs of Mas Fusion doing a wonderful performance to promote the workshops, I’m sorting them out at the moment so there should be another album highlighting just how good Mas Fusion is as a group.

Don’t forget to let people know that the workshops are running for another 4 weeks in the same spot the cost is 50p for Flag/Mask making per child and £1.50 for a full face paint design.

All contributions go towards the Sandown Carnival Association fund raising efforts.

If you have some spare time, don’t forget that between now and next Tuesday 29th July is the final push to get the costumes ready and make any necessary repairs for the Sandown Main Carnival on 30th July.

Give either Jill or Sharon a call and they will find you some last minute work to do. Even if you can spare only 1 hour your help would really be appreciated. Sharon will be at the Carnival centre today, Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning, and work is being carried out at the Shop as well.

It’s been a very busy week trying to sort out the best photographs from the 400 plus I took at Brighton, so I have to apologise for the delay getting them live. Hopefully by the end of today (Sunday 19th) we should have a new album of our adventures to Brighton.I’m also trying to set up a small album of the workshops all of us have been involved in either at the Carnival Center, Fusion or Jill’s house, I keep saying to Sharon, that I love the community spirit that Mas Fusion has and that when all hands to the decks are needed everyone helps in some way or another, you should all be really proud of yourselves, as the costumes were a delight to see and photograph.

The “One World” individual youth costume works shops start this coming Sunday 1st June 2008 from 10am to 4pm for the next 6 weeks at

Please come along with your ideas, sketches and pictures, so that we can help you produce your costume. For young people from age 10 to 18.

Mas Fusion Carnival Dance sessions are held on:-

Monday’s at Shanklin C of E Primary School, in the School Hall from 6.45 to 8 pm

and

Tuesday’s at Sandown Youth Centre, Grafton Road, Sandown from 6.15 to 7.30pm

the cost is £1 per session or if you come to both it the cost is £1.50. All fees go towards enabling the group to attend carnivals.
